Lucknow, August 5: The monsoon has taken a fierce turn in Uttar Pradesh, bringing both relief and disaster across various regions. In several places, life has come to a complete halt due to continuous rainfall since midnight, affecting all districts of the state.

Monsoon Alert

The situation has now worsened to the extent that flood warnings have started emerging. People residing near riverbanks have begun preparing for flood protection, and relief camps are being set up in anticipation. These camps are expected to serve as temporary shelters and safe storage for valuables if floodwaters enter residential areas. The heavy downpour continues from eastern to western Uttar Pradesh.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rains with thunder and lightning are likely in the following districts:

Flood Threat Due to Continuous Rain

Due to continuous rainfall, the risk of floods has increased significantly. The water levels in major rivers such as the Ganga, Ramganga, and Koshi have risen sharply. The Ramganga river has started causing erosion, leading to extensive damage to agricultural land. Several farmers have reported that their crops have been washed away by the river.

Residents along the banks of the Ganga river have started moving to relief camps set up in safer areas. As of now, there is no indication of respite from the ongoing rainfall in the coming hours.
