New Delhi, February 17: The UK High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, emphasized that cooperation in technology and innovation is a key pillar of the ‘UK-India Vision 2035’. This statement comes as UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy and AI Minister Kanishk Narayan prepare to visit New Delhi for the AI Impact Summit.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, High Commissioner Cameron expressed her anticipation for welcoming Lammy and Narayan to Delhi for the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026′. She noted that collaboration in technology and innovation is a crucial aspect of the UK-India Vision 2035.
Cameron recalled her visit to Bletchley Park in 2023, where the UK hosted the world’s first AI Safety Summit. She remarked on the significance of India leading discussions on AI, highlighting its global implications.
An official statement from the UK government indicated that the AI Impact Summit will showcase how AI can drive growth, create new jobs, enhance public services, and benefit people worldwide.
The statement further mentioned that Lammy and Narayan will lead a UK delegation in a week-long dialogue focused on how AI can improve everyday life, not just in advanced economies but across the globe.
During the summit, Lammy and Narayan will emphasize that AI serves as a renewal engine, assisting doctors in making quicker diagnoses, enabling teachers to personalize learning, allowing councils to deliver services efficiently, and helping businesses create next-generation jobs.
In a statement, David Lammy noted, “This summit is a crucial opportunity to determine how we can work with our international partners to unlock the full benefits and capabilities of AI, while also establishing robust and appropriate safety standards that protect us all.”
He added, “We are turning ambition into action to bring jobs, growth, and prosperity to the UK. Business leaders joining us in India will forge strong partnerships and secure investments, creating opportunities for people in the UK, India, and around the world.”
