Raipur, June 28: BJP leader Ujjwal Deepak has welcomed the announcement to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in West Bengal and to establish strict laws against ‘love jihad’ and conversions. He emphasized that it is time for uniform laws to be applied throughout the country.
In an interview with a news agency, Deepak stated, “It is not just about West Bengal; the time has come for similar laws across India. When we talk about equality, opposition parties should not advocate for inequality. For decades, a policy of appeasement has been in place. The old mindset of pleasing certain communities and religions must end. Every citizen’s rights and responsibilities should be equal. The laws should be the same for everyone.”
He referenced a recent statement by Sharmistha Mukherjee, daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee, saying, “I read Sharmistha’s statement. She mentioned that Pranab Mukherjee told her that Narendra Modi is the first elected Prime Minister. Such remarks from a respected figure like Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee are extremely significant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has joined the ranks of a select few leaders who have won three consecutive Lok Sabha elections. His tenure will be recorded in golden letters.”
Responding to recent comments by Sonia Gandhi, Deepak remarked, “I believe the UPA government lost power in 2014. Since then, the country’s foreign policy has completely transformed. The Foreign Minister and the Prime Minister are both new, and they have been fulfilling their responsibilities effectively for the past 12 years. Any matters related to foreign affairs should be appropriately addressed by the Foreign Ministry, the Prime Minister, or the Foreign Minister.”
Deepak expressed full support for the CBSE’s decision to implement the three-language formula. He stated, “India is an incredibly diverse country with many languages and thousands of dialects spoken across the nation. The CBSE aims to ensure that every student can study in the language or dialect they feel most comfortable with. Such initiatives to make education more inclusive and accessible should be wholeheartedly welcomed.”
