Noida, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : Noida police have successfully dismantled a gang involved in stealing steel from construction sites, arresting four suspects on October 24. The operation unfolded at the Jaipur Chowk in Sector 62, where officers attempted to stop two suspicious individuals on a motorcycle. Instead of complying, the duo sped away towards D Park.
During the chase, their motorcycle skidded on a winding road, leading to their fall. Cornered, the suspects fired at the police, prompting a response that injured one suspect in the leg. The injured man was identified as 34-year-old Raju Singh, also known as Raja, from Kalyan Puri, Delhi. His accomplice, 30-year-old Rahul Singh, was apprehended shortly after. Raju was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities recovered an Apache motorcycle, ₹2,500 in cash, and an illegal .315 bore pistol, along with one live and one spent cartridge from the suspects. During interrogation, the arrested individuals revealed that their accomplices, Arjun and Sunil, were waiting nearby with a scooter. The gang had been scouting construction sites to steal steel, which they later sold to a scrap dealer in Ghaziabad.
The suspects admitted to stealing steel from various sites 15 to 16 times over the past month. Based on their information, police later arrested Arjun, 27, and Sunil, 20, near Khoda Road. Both are also residents of Kalyan Puri in Delhi.
Investigators are now looking into the scrap dealer and other potential connections involved in the thefts. Authorities confirmed that the recovered Apache motorcycle was reported stolen in a case filed in 2022 at Sector 20 police station in Noida. Raju Singh is believed to be the gang’s ringleader, with over a dozen cases registered against him across various police stations in Delhi-NCR.
The criminal records indicate charges not only in Noida’s Sector 58 and Sector 20 but also in areas like Preet Vihar, Samaypur Badli, Roop Nagar, and Amar Colony in Delhi. Rahul Singh faces additional charges under the Arms Act at the Defence Colony police station.
