Ahmedabad, May 13: Ride-hailing giant Uber is set to establish its first data center in India in collaboration with the Adani Group. This initiative comes as the country emerges as a significant innovation hub for the company. Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, shared this development on Wednesday.
During a meeting with Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, Khosrowshahi highlighted India’s rapid transformation into a leading innovation center for global mobility platforms.
In a post on the social media platform X, he expressed, “It was great to meet Gautam Adani this morning in Ahmedabad and strengthen our existing partnership with the Adani Group.”
He further stated, “As India quickly becomes a major innovation center for Uber, we are establishing our first data center in the country in collaboration with the Adani Group to test and deploy our technology.”
The proposed data center is expected to support Uber’s growing technology and innovation efforts in India. The country has become a crucial market for the company, not only in mobility services but also in engineering and product development.
Khosrowshahi noted, “This investment, which will be ready by the end of this year, will help us scale up operations from India to the world.”
This announcement of the latest partnership comes at a time when the Adani Group is rapidly expanding its digital infrastructure in India.
Last month, Adani Group’s joint venture with EdgeConneX, AdaniConneX, announced the development of a 1-gigawatt AI-ready data center platform in Visakhapatnam.
According to an official statement released on April 28, this ambitious project will see an investment of approximately $10 billion from the Adani Group.
In collaboration with Google as an infrastructure partner, AdaniConneX is developing scalable, AI-ready data center infrastructure supported by a robust and integrated energy ecosystem.
