Court Denies Bail to Three in Fatal Mini Cooper Accident in Nedumbassery
A court in Nedumbassery has denied bail to three accused in a tragic Mini Cooper accident that resulted in three fatalities.

Nedumbassery, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : The Angamaly Magistrate Court has denied bail to three individuals involved in a fatal Mini Cooper accident that occurred near Nedumbassery on Saturday. The incident, which took place around 2 a.m. near Cochin International Airport, resulted in the deaths of three young individuals who were riding a scooter.
Prosecutors argued that the investigation has reached a crucial stage. The accused include Suhail Sajeev, the driver, and two passengers, Neenav and Amir Joel. Suhail faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, while the others are accused of incitement.
The victims, Eyas, Gopika, and Devika, were students who also worked part-time at a handicraft store. The accident has sparked political controversy, with claims circulating on social media that senior Congress leaders are attempting to shield the driver from legal repercussions.
Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala expressed anger over baseless allegations in the media suggesting that efforts are being made to protect the accused. The prosecution highlighted prima facie evidence against the defendants, opposing their bail requests.
The court was informed that tests on blood and urine samples confirmed alcohol consumption. Additionally, the vehicle’s event data recorder (EDR) has been sent for analysis to corroborate details of the accident. Prosecutors argued that the 19-year-old driver should be fully aware of the nature and consequences of his actions.
The prosecution urged the court to deny bail until key investigative processes are completed. Accepting this argument, the court dismissed the bail applications.
Allegations of political interference and the Home Minister’s criticism of media reports have added a new dimension to the case. Attention will now focus on the investigation and the findings from the EDR analysis.
