Female Journalist Files FIR Against Rahul Gandhi for Alleged Assault During Pregnancy
Journalist Richa Parashar has filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi, alleging assault during her pregnancy while covering a story.
New Delhi, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : A female journalist, Richa Parashar, has formally requested an FIR against Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, following an alleged assault incident. The complaint states that on October 12, 2026, while reporting at the Supreme Court premises, she was pushed and threatened, which involved the use of criminal force. At the time, she was approximately 11 weeks pregnant.
Parashar, who works as an associate producer at OneIndia, detailed the incident in her complaint submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in New Delhi. She has called for an investigation under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 2023.
According to her complaint, the incident occurred around 6:30 PM as she was covering a story near the registry counter of the Supreme Court. A large group of Congress workers and supporters, led by Rahul Gandhi, entered the area. Parashar claims she questioned Gandhi about the presence of so many Congress supporters, which prompted him to push her.
She alleges that the push caused her to lose her balance and fall, resulting in injuries to her hands. Parashar reportedly called for help and waited for assistance for about 40 minutes, claiming that those present ignored her distress.
Following the incident, she experienced lower abdominal pain and was taken to the emergency department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi that same night. The next day, she was admitted for further observation. Medical records indicate that she was 11 weeks and three days pregnant at the time, and her pain was documented. An ultrasound was also performed to check for fetal heart activity.
Parashar has requested action under IPC sections 74, 115(2), 131, 125, and 3(5). She urged the police to file an FIR against Rahul Gandhi and others involved, demanding a fair and timely investigation. The complaint also requests that any additional crimes uncovered during the investigation be addressed under relevant legal provisions. However, there has been no independent verification of the allegations made in the complaint, nor updates on police action regarding the case.
