AIADMK Welcomes Actor Dhanush Amid Political Speculations

AIADMK leader K.T. Rajendra Balaji expresses openness to actor Dhanush joining the party as political rumors circulate.

Shivakasi, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : K.T. Rajendra Balaji, a former minister and leader of the AIADMK, stated on Saturday that actor Dhanush would be warmly welcomed if he chooses to join the party. This announcement comes amid growing speculation on social media regarding Dhanush’s potential entry into politics.

Speaking to reporters in Shivakasi, Balaji described Dhanush as a prominent actor with significant influence among the youth. He emphasized that the AIADMK is always open to individuals who can strengthen the organization and advance its objectives.

Responding to inquiries about Dhanush’s possible political ambitions, Balaji said, “If Dhanush joins AIADMK, we will welcome him.” His comments follow reports suggesting that Dhanush is preparing to enter politics and has registered a party named “Tamil Nadu Uchi Kazhagam” with the Election Commission, although these claims have not been officially confirmed.

On October 15, a meeting of Dhanush’s fan clubs took place to discuss his future endeavors. Reports indicate that these clubs will operate as a charitable organization, complete with a flag and emblem. Changes within the organization have fueled further speculation about Dhanush’s plans.

However, available information does not substantiate that this charitable initiative is a step toward forming a political party or joining an existing one.

Balaji noted that AIADMK’s General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has the ability to unite people from diverse backgrounds and bring in beneficial participants for the party. He mentioned that the leadership does not discriminate against new members and welcomes constructive ideas that contribute to the organization’s growth. He explained the party’s stance on welcoming new members, stating, “Anyone who can contribute to the movement’s growth can be included.”

The former minister also asserted that actors have the right to enter public life. However, he suggested that once they enter politics, they should leave their acting careers behind. Without naming anyone, he criticized the practice of simultaneously pursuing a film career and political activities.

Despite the ongoing speculation, Balaji refrained from confirming any contact between Dhanush and the AIADMK or indicating that the actor has expressed a desire to join the party. He stated, “Only time will tell if the news of Dhanush joining AIADMK is true or just a rumor.”
