Abu Dhabi, May 9: The Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reported on Friday that Iran has once again launched ballistic missiles and drones (UAVs) into its territory. The ministry condemned the attack, stating that the UAE’s air defense systems successfully intercepted two ballistic missiles and three drones fired from Iran.
According to the ministry, three individuals sustained injuries during this assault.
Earlier this week, the UAE’s Foreign Ministry indicated that the attack by Iran had resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals in civilian areas and facilities.
The UAE labeled Iran’s actions as “unacceptable aggression,” asserting that they pose a direct threat to the nation’s security, stability, and territorial integrity. The UAE also emphasized that these attacks violate international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
As reported by Fars News Agency, the Iranian military command, known as the ‘Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters,’ stated on Tuesday that its armed forces had not conducted any missile or drone attacks on the UAE in recent days.
Spokesperson Ibrahim Jolfaghari claimed that if Iran had taken such action, it would have been “clearly and directly announced.”
According to Xinhua News Agency, he also dismissed the UAE’s allegations of drone and missile attacks, advising UAE officials not to fall into traps set by the United States and Israel.
Several countries, including Japan, Ireland, Austria, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, condemned the Iranian attack on the UAE on Tuesday.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that three Indian nationals were injured in the attack, labeling it “unacceptable.” The ministry expressed support for dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate tensions in the Gulf region and restore peace and stability in West Asia.
