New Delhi, March 26: Tensions between Iran and the U.S.-Israel alliance have escalated, impacting countries worldwide. The U.S. aims to end the conflict on its terms, while Iran remains steadfast. In this context, Pakistan has expressed its willingness to mediate between Iran and the U.S. Reports indicate that U.S. Vice President JD Vance may travel to Pakistan for discussions aimed at resolving the conflict.
According to media reports, Vice President Vance is expected to engage in talks to end the U.S.-Israel war against Iran. CNN has cited two senior administration officials, stating that a meeting is being arranged in Islamabad as Pakistan positions itself as a crucial mediator.
The report suggests that Vice President Vance may be accompanied by other senior officials from President Donald Trump’s administration on this trip. Previously, The Financial Times reported that Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir spoke with Trump on Sunday. Additionally, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif conversed with Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian on Monday.
Meanwhile, the White House has stated that U.S. military operations against Iran are progressing beyond the scheduled timeline and nearing their primary objectives. Washington continues to engage in “meaningful” discussions with Tehran aimed at ending the conflict.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt informed the media that the U.S. is close to achieving the main goals of “Operation Epic Fury.” She noted, “In just over three weeks, it has become clear that Operation Epic Fury has proven to be a significant military victory.” So far, over 9,000 enemy positions have been targeted.
Levitt also mentioned that since the operation began, there has been nearly a 90% reduction in Iran’s missile and drone attacks. She claimed that the U.S. has destroyed over 140 Iranian naval vessels, describing it as “the largest naval destruction in three weeks since World War II.”
Levitt added, “With each passing day, our military efforts are becoming more successful, and Iran’s ability to intimidate commercial shipping is steadily declining. This campaign has significantly weakened Iran’s capacity to threaten shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy supply.”
