U.S. Ambassador Confirms All Options Open Against Iran Amid Tensions

Washington, March 23: The United States is pursuing a dual strategy regarding the Strait of Hormuz. On one hand, it is collaborating with allied nations to share responsibilities, while on the other, it is warning of potential military action if necessary. This was stated by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz.

In an appearance on CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” Waltz emphasized that the U.S. can advance on both fronts simultaneously. He clarified that it is not mandatory for the U.S. to rely solely on military force or only on allies; both options can coexist.

Waltz noted that several countries, including Italy, Germany, and France, have stepped forward to assist in this mission. Additionally, Japan has pledged naval support, as a significant portion of oil exiting the Gulf is directed towards Asia.

He also mentioned that the U.S. is prepared to escalate actions if needed. Waltz stated that the President has already made it clear that Iran’s military capabilities, including missiles, naval forces, and drone technology, will be systematically weakened.

This statement comes at a time when President Donald Trump has warned Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, or face potential attacks on its energy infrastructure. Waltz remarked that no options have been entirely dismissed for the President.

According to Waltz, Iran’s military and civilian sectors are deeply intertwined. He pointed out that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps controls significant portions of the country’s infrastructure, economy, and various government institutions.

He asserted that if Iran’s military capacity and defense production are being undermined, all options must remain on the table.

In response to concerns raised by the United Nations regarding potential war crimes related to attacks on energy infrastructure, Waltz defended the U.S. stance. He stated that Iran utilizes its critical infrastructure not only to suppress its own people but also to launch attacks on neighboring countries and advance towards nuclear weapons despite UN sanctions.

Waltz emphasized that the U.S. would target only military installations during any attacks. He noted that the President, Pentagon, and their team will ensure that targets remain confined to Iran’s military infrastructure. He accused Iran of deliberately mixing military sites with civilian areas.

Discussing Iran’s missile capabilities, Waltz referenced recent developments that challenge previous intelligence assessments. He mentioned that the UK recently condemned a medium-range ballistic missile launched towards Diego Garcia, asserting that such missiles could reach European capitals.

He also accused Iran of concealing its technological advancements through its civilian space program. According to him, integrating space technology with missile technology is not particularly challenging.

Waltz described the U.S. strategy as a preemptive measure, stating that the President is taking timely actions to prevent Iran from becoming a fully-fledged nuclear power. He compared this situation to North Korea.

Waltz dismissed public skepticism regarding this issue in the U.S., asserting that approximately 90 percent of the Republican Party supports Trump’s efforts. He emphasized that the President’s top priority is the safety of American citizens.

In conclusion, Waltz reiterated that no options have been ruled out, including potential ground actions if necessary. He stated that the U.S. will keep all avenues open to achieve its objectives.
