Jammu, February 22: In a significant operation in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, joint forces have eliminated a top commander and another terrorist from the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist organization.
The White Knight Corps, based in Nagrota, reported on ‘X’, stating, “Two terrorists have been neutralized. Operation Trashi-1 was launched based on reliable intelligence from Jammu and Kashmir police, international intelligence agencies, and our own sources to locate and neutralize active terrorists in the region.”
The operation involved soldiers from the CIF Delta White Knight Corps, who coordinated with the Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF. They engaged the terrorists in a remote area around 11:00 AM on Sunday, successfully killing both militants and recovering a substantial cache of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles.
The army emphasized that the search is ongoing and that those attempting to disrupt peace will find no refuge. An army official confirmed that a top JeM commander was killed in the encounter, and efforts are underway to recover the bodies of the deceased terrorists.
This marks the second such incident in the area this month. Previously, on February 4, gunfire erupted in the same densely forested region. Over the past year, more than a dozen encounters have occurred between security forces and terrorists in the Chhatru area of Kishtwar.
It is believed that a group of foreign terrorists is active in this region, frequently shifting their base between Kishtwar, Doda, and Udhampur districts. The army, along with the Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF, is relentlessly pursuing this group of Pakistani terrorists. Due to the intensified search efforts, the group has been moving from one location to another instead of attacking security forces.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has issued clear orders to neutralize Pakistani terrorists in the hilly districts of the Jammu region. During his last visit to Jammu on February 7, he called for a mission-mode approach to restore complete peace in the Union Territory.
