Bhopal, May 22: In the ongoing investigation into Twisha Sharma‘s death, a statement from the CCTV installer has emerged. Vinod Vani, the installer, claimed on Friday that the CCTV system at the residence of former judge Giribala Singh was running “2 days, 2 hours, and 20 minutes behind” due to a software issue, rather than any tampering.
Speaking to reporters, Vani explained that he installed an eight-camera CCTV setup at Singh’s home in 2023. He received a call regarding the incident that occurred on May 12. Initially, he was unaware of the specifics, as such calls typically relate to theft or requests for footage extraction.
Vani further mentioned that he received a call from Singh on May 13, but he was unable to attend immediately. He noted that police were already present at the scene, so he instructed a staff member, Rohit, to check the system.
“I thought it was a case of theft or something similar,” Vani said. However, upon Rohit’s arrival, he learned that the situation was entirely different. Vani instructed his staff to hand over the footage to the police.
Vani clarified that the CCTV system was indeed “2 days, 2 hours, and 20 minutes” behind schedule. “This was not tampering; it was a software issue. If the software had been updated on time, this problem would not have occurred. The recording is complete and contains nearly one terabyte of data,” he stated.
He also mentioned that after the police seized the footage and equipment, they requested him to install a new CCTV setup at the residence. A new system was set up two days later to monitor any further activities if necessary.
Another staff member, Rohit Vishwakarma, also spoke about the incident, stating that after Twisha Sharma’s death, Vani instructed him to check the recording system. “I received a call from Vinod Vani, who informed me that something had happened at the judge’s house and asked me to check the recordings,” Rohit said.
He added that when he arrived, police and administrative officials were already present. They asked him to check the recordings, so he provided footage from 6 PM to 9 PM. The time discrepancy occurred because the system had not been serviced.
