TVK Leader Aadhav Arjun Criticizes DMK for Family Politics

Chennai, April 6: Aadhav Arjun, the General Secretary of the Tamilaga Vettir Katchi (TVK), launched a scathing attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday. He accused the DMK leadership of prioritizing family interests over senior party leaders and coalition partners ahead of the assembly elections.

Arjun alleged that Stalin has sidelined his sister, current MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, while preparing his son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, for political responsibilities, thereby strengthening the family’s influence within the party.

He stated, “Senior leaders who have made significant contributions to the party, like Kanimozhi and General Secretary Durai Murugan, are being marginalized.” He further claimed that crucial decisions are now being made by a close inner circle.

Arjun criticized the DMK’s candidate selection process, asserting that nominations are primarily limited to those supported by Udhayanidhi Stalin and Sabareesan. According to him, this has led to discontent within the party and increased uncertainty among coalition partners.

He noted that major allies, such as Congress, are still struggling to finalize candidates for several seats, impacting the internal dynamics of the coalition on the ground.

Citing the political situation in Bihar, he alleged that influential parties gradually weaken their allies over time. He pointed to smaller parties like MDMK contesting elections under the DMK symbol, arguing that such agreements undermine their independent political identity.

Criticizing coalition options, Arjun condemned the inclusion of DMDK in the DMK-led front, stating it contradicts the ideological legacy of its founder, the late Vijayakanth. Such political alliances could weaken the party’s core vision.

He also accused smaller allies and leaders of facing pressure in candidate selection and election strategies.

Expressing confidence in TVK’s prospects, Arjun stated that the party has fielded candidates in all 234 constituencies and claimed that approximately 25% of the traditional AIADMK vote bank has shifted towards TVK.
