BJP and JD(S) Unite for Upcoming Bye-Election in Karnatakas Hiriyur

BJP and JD(S) strategize for the Hiriyur bye-election, aiming for a united front against Congress in Karnataka.

Bengaluru, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Karnataka BJP President and legislator B.Y. Vijayendra announced on November 2 that the BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) will collaborate for the upcoming bye-election in Hiriyur. The two parties aim to devise strategies to ensure a victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Speaking at a press conference at the party’s state headquarters, Vijayendra emphasized that the BJP’s focus would not solely be on defeating the Congress but also on securing their own victory. “We will not just strategize on how to defeat the Congress party; we will plan on how to win the election ourselves,” he stated.

The announcement of the Hiriyur bye-election is anticipated soon, and discussions were held in detail during a BJP core committee meeting on Monday. Vijayendra highlighted the need for senior BJP leaders to engage in discussions, including talks with former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, to reach a consensus on candidate selection.

He criticized the Congress government, pointing out that Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has already visited Hiriyur within two to three months of taking office. Vijayendra suggested that the recent results of the Legislative Council elections indicate growing public dissatisfaction with the Congress government.

“The trust of the people of Karnataka in this government has diminished despite the ruling Congress’s displays of power,” he claimed. He also noted that BJP National General Secretary Harish Dwivedi participated in a meeting with state party officials, providing guidance on strengthening the organization in Karnataka.

Vijayendra reinforced that the results of the recent elections reflect the public’s anger towards the Congress government. He stated, “There is discontent among the people against the state government and the ruling party. We have been advised to strengthen our organization through positive struggles and prepare for the upcoming GBA elections, district panchayat elections, and gram panchayat elections.”

Looking ahead, he acknowledged that the next assembly elections are not far off and that the party faces several challenges. “We have been guided on how to navigate these challenges successfully,” he added.

In response to a question, Vijayendra accused the Congress of conducting a campaign against the Election Commission and other constitutional bodies in Delhi and across the country. He alleged that the Congress and other parties are conspiring against Prime Minister Modi and attempting to destabilize the democratically elected central government.

He stated, “It is clear that the Congress and other parties are plotting to bring down our central government, which came to power through democratic means.” The BJP has launched a nationwide campaign titled “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” against the alleged propaganda and conspiracies of the Congress.

This campaign will be conducted in all district headquarters of Karnataka, with a foot march scheduled in Kolar on Tuesday at around 11:30 AM, expecting participation from over 10,000 youth. Vijayendra, along with Harish Dwivedi and other state leaders, will take part in the march. A similar event is planned in Chitradurga the following day.

Vijayendra also launched a sharp attack on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, asserting that the party is in despair under his leadership. “The Congress party and Rahul Gandhi are extremely disheartened. While Narendra Modi leads the country as Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi dreams of becoming Prime Minister and resorts to such conspiracies. Our campaign is against that,” he said.

When asked about the ongoing developments within the ruling Congress, Vijayendra claimed that factionalism would increase after the Legislative Council election results. He stated, “I have previously mentioned that there are attempts to bring in a third Chief Minister in Karnataka. Many secret meetings are taking place.”

He further alleged that former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah traveled to Delhi to file complaints against Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. “Information has emerged that Siddaramaiah went to Delhi and lodged a complaint against D.K. Shivakumar,” he claimed.

Overall, Vijayendra suggested that all is not well within the Congress party and the state government, indicating that tensions could erupt at any moment.
