Trump Urges Iran to Halt Missile Attacks and Return to Negotiations Amid Rising Tensions

Washington, June 8: U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Iran to cease its missile attacks on Israel and return to the negotiating table. This statement comes in the wake of Iran launching a new batch of ballistic missiles toward Israel.

Trump stated in an interview with Fox News, “I would tell Iran that you have fired your missiles, now stop. Come back to the negotiating table and make a deal.”

According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, Trump also claimed that prior to Iran’s missile launches, the U.S. and Iran were very close to reaching an agreement.

He remarked, “We were very close. I believe that by Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of this coming week, we could have signed an agreement. But now, that is all gone.”

He added, “This is not helpful at all for attempts at dialogue and agreement.”

In an interview with Axios, Trump mentioned that he would be calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to urge him not to retaliate.

Trump said, “I am about to call Bibi (Netanyahu) and tell him not to retaliate. Both sides have taken their steps. Israel has attacked, and Iran has responded. We do not need more confrontation now.”

CNN reported that Iran launched at least ten ballistic missiles toward Israel on Sunday. These missiles were launched in at least three separate phases. The Israeli military claims that all missiles were intercepted mid-flight.

According to two Israeli sources cited by CNN, Israel is expected to respond strongly to this attack, raising concerns about escalating tensions in the region.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that Iran has launched missiles four times so far.

Currently, there are no reports of injuries or significant damage. However, sirens were activated in several areas of northern Israel due to these missile attacks.

IDF spokesperson Efi Defrin stated that Iran made a “big mistake” by launching missiles. He also mentioned that the military is fully prepared for any potential future attacks.

Defrin noted that IDF Chief Ayal Zamir is reviewing the situation and approving plans for further actions, although he did not provide additional details.

Following the Iranian attacks, Israel’s Home Front Command has tightened security regulations across the country. Gatherings of more than 200 people in open areas have been prohibited.
