Upon disembarking from Air Force One, he was warmly welcomed by Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and other dignitaries. This visit is marked by traditional honors, including a floral welcome, making it a significant occasion.
According to the White House’s official social media account, Vice President Han Zheng and other officials greeted Trump at the airport with flowers.
As Trump walked down the red carpet, he took a moment to acknowledge the military honor guard and Chinese youth waving flags, showcasing his signature “fist pump” gesture.
This marks the first state visit to China by a sitting U.S. president since Trump’s previous trip in 2017.
Following his arrival, Trump’s convoy departed from Beijing Capital Airport to his hotel. On Thursday, he is scheduled to participate in the official state arrival ceremony, meet with President Xi Jinping, give several interviews, and attend various official events.
Before leaving for China, Trump indicated that trade would be the primary focus of the summit. He stated, “We have a big relationship with China. We are both superpowers, and there are many important issues to discuss. The main focus will be on trade.”
In a conversation with the media, Trump emphasized that the U.S. and China are the world’s two largest powers and that their relationship is “strong and stable.” He remarked, “My relationship with President Xi Jinping is fantastic. We have always gotten along well, and working with China has been great.”
Trump described the U.S.-China economic relationship as mutually beneficial, saying, “We do a lot of trade with China. Both sides benefit, and our relationship is good.”
He also revealed that Xi Jinping may visit the U.S. later this year, stating, “President Xi will come to America by the end of this year. That will be quite exciting.”
