Washington, July 21: Following the tragic deaths of two active-duty American soldiers stationed in Jordan as part of “Operation Inherent Resolve,” President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran. He stated that if Iran harms any American soldier, it will face severe repercussions.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump declared, “If Iran takes the life of any American soldier, it will pay a price many times greater.” This message has been communicated to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Daniel Kane, and every senior military official.
Trump’s statement appears to escalate tensions in the Middle East, as both nations continue to exchange attacks and sharp rhetoric. Amid rising hostilities, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has asserted that the conflict with the U.S. will not cease until Iran gains a significant advantage in the fight.
In an interview with the state news agency IRNA, Araghchi emphasized that negotiations should only occur when Iran feels the circumstances are favorable. He stated, “There are two ways a war can end: one side achieves military victory, or both sides reach an agreement through negotiations. However, talks should only happen when one side is in a strong position. Rushing into negotiations is not wise.”
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf responded sharply, suggesting that Americans underestimate Iran’s intelligence. He remarked on the social media platform X, “Americans are continuously bringing new military equipment to the region while claiming they want to prevent war. They may think our understanding is as weak as their intelligence.”
Ghalibaf added that Iran has become adept at recognizing American tactics and has prepared accordingly. He stressed that actions must validate claims, rather than contradict them.
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated following the collapse of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the U.S. and Iran. Both sides are engaged in ongoing attacks, with Iran targeting American military bases in Gulf countries while the U.S. continues its strikes against Iran.
