Washington, July 2: President Donald Trump announced that shipping through the Hormuz Strait has reached record levels, predicting a further decline in oil prices. During a speech in North Dakota, he provided a positive assessment of the situation with Iran.
On Wednesday, while inaugurating the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, Trump stated, “Boats are coming out of the Hormuz Strait. The number of vessels leaving is unprecedented. In fact, we are setting records.”
He added, “Oil prices are falling. I don’t care if they are happy or sad; I want prices to be low. Oil prices are dropping faster than anyone thought possible, but I told you this would happen. We have complete control over everything.”
In discussing U.S. foreign policy, Trump briefly mentioned Iran, saying, “We are actually doing just as well with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Perhaps you’ve heard about it.”
Trump frequently shifted his focus between honoring Theodore Roosevelt and discussing his administration’s domestic and foreign policy agenda. He linked low energy prices to broader economic improvements.
“This is just the beginning of America’s golden age. The U.S. is about to experience something that I can genuinely say I believe is the best time yet to come,” he remarked.
He also stated that America has regained its international standing. “Today, America is stronger and more respected than ever. Other countries now view America from a different perspective than before.”
The Hormuz Strait, located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, is one of the busiest oil transport routes globally. A significant portion of the world’s crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) passes through this waterway. Any disruption in vessel traffic here is closely monitored by energy markets and major oil-importing countries.
