Agartala, June 14: Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, stated on Sunday that under PM Modi’s leadership, Tripura has emerged as a key player in the development journey of the North-East. He attributed the state’s progress to significant improvements in connectivity, infrastructure, governance, and economic opportunities over the past decade.
Sonowal visited Tripura as part of events marking the completion of 12 years of the Modi-led government. During his trip, he engaged with citizens, attended an exhibition showcasing central government initiatives, participated in the ‘Pragati Path Yatra,’ inspected the construction of a new government office complex in Gurkhabasti, and planted a sapling under the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ campaign.
At the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Conference’ and during discussions with prominent citizens, Sonowal emphasized that the Modi government‘s 12-year journey has been characterized by ‘trust, development, and public welfare,’ with governance becoming more transparent, technology-driven, and citizen-focused.
He remarked that PM Modi’s leadership has transformed India from a hesitant nation into one filled with confidence. Over the past 12 years, development, welfare, and opportunities have flourished across the country, including in the North-East.
Discussing Tripura’s development journey, the minister noted that improvements in roads, railways, digital connectivity, and public infrastructure have better connected the state to national and international markets.
Sonowal declared that Tripura is writing a new chapter in development. What once seemed difficult to achieve is now becoming a reality as the state progresses on the path of growth and prosperity.
He highlighted the international recognition of Tripura’s agricultural products, particularly the state’s renowned ‘Queen Pineapple,’ and mentioned that enhanced connectivity and market access have helped local farmers in the North-East reach new markets.
The union minister stated that PM Modi’s focus on infrastructure, connectivity, and economic empowerment has opened up opportunities for North-East products, including Tripura’s world-class pineapples, in international markets, benefiting farmers and rural communities.
