Tripura CM Manik Saha Confident of BJPs Victory in Silchar Constituency

Mumbai, March 29: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed confidence on Sunday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming assembly elections in the Silchar constituency of southern Assam.

Addressing an election rally at Kirtania Ground on Satsang Ashram Road in Silchar, Saha stated that BJP candidate Rajdeep Roy is set to win by a “huge margin.”

Saha criticized the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA), labeling it a “corrupt government” and contrasting it with the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He remarked, “People trust Prime Minister Modi. Under his leadership, the country is on the path of development.”

Recalling the political developments in Tripura, he noted that the BJP ended the “35 years of misrule” by the Left Front. He emphasized that the turning point came in 2014 when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, and that change is now evident in the region.

Saha also mentioned the upcoming elections for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and a by-election in the Dharmanagar assembly constituency of North Tripura, both of which are crucial for the state. Despite these commitments, he stated that he attended the Silchar rally to meet the demands of party supporters.

He added, “Coming to Silchar feels like coming to Agartala. Many people here have deep connections to Tripura.” The Chief Minister further indicated that Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are also likely to campaign in the area.

Criticizing previous governments, Saha pointed out that before 2014, the country faced uncertainty and security challenges. He noted the corruption witnessed during the Congress and UPA rule at both the central and Assam levels. In contrast, he highlighted that the current government emphasizes transparency and good governance.

He underscored the importance of the Northeast, stating that Prime Minister Modi has referred to the region as “Ashtalakshmi,” stressing that India’s development depends on the progress of its northeastern states. He also described the central government’s Act East Policy as a key driver of regional advancement.
