Agartala, February 15: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha stated on Saturday that the media serves as a mirror to society. He emphasized the need for journalists to stay updated in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), the internet, and globalization.

Saha remarked that we are now living in an era dominated by AI and the internet. With globalization in full swing, it is essential for journalists to keep themselves informed. News must be presented with honesty and integrity, adapting to the changing times.

Speaking at the inauguration of the two-day biennial state conference and journalists’ workshop organized by the Tripura Working Journalists Association, Saha highlighted this year’s workshop theme: “Embrace Change.”

Congratulating the representatives, he noted that the current state government is media-friendly and stressed the importance of professional training in journalism. He stated that such training programs are crucial, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s repeated calls for enhancing efficiency across all sectors.

Highlighting the media’s role in a democratic system, the Chief Minister remarked that the media is considered the fourth pillar of democracy. He stated that the pen is mightier than the sword. Journalists in Tripura are equally capable as those in other states. Within its limits, the government has initiated several welfare measures for journalists.

Saha mentioned that the state government receives daily updates on law and order and other issues from various news agencies, district magistrates, sub-divisional magistrates, block administrations, and grassroots officials.

He further added that a monitoring system has been established to ensure proper coordination.
