Transfer of SP Neelotpal from Gadchiroli to Kolhapur

Mumbai, April 21: The Superintendent of Police (SP) Neelotpal, who played a crucial role in making Gadchiroli district free from Naxalism, has been transferred to Kolhapur. He has been appointed as the new SP of Kolhapur district. Meanwhile, M. Ramesh, currently serving as the Additional SP in Gadchiroli, has been appointed as the new SP of the district.

Neelotpal took charge as the SP of Gadchiroli in October 2022. During his tenure, significant campaigns were launched against Naxalism, resulting in major successes towards making Gadchiroli Naxal-free.

According to statistics, from 2022 to March 31, 2026, over 170 hardcore Naxalites surrendered, while 99 were killed in encounters. Additionally, more than 120 Naxalites were arrested. The destruction of Naxalite monuments that had existed in the forests for years is also considered a significant achievement for the administration.

Neelotpal is among the few police superintendents who served in Gadchiroli for an extended period. His tenure was marked by strict law enforcement, ensuring that no accused involved in serious crimes escaped justice.

During Neelotpal’s time, 11 new police assistance centers were established in extremely remote and Naxal-affected areas like Bhamragad and Etapalli, bordering Chhattisgarh. These centers aimed to provide safety and reassurance to citizens living in Naxal-affected regions.

On the other hand, M. Ramesh took charge as the Additional SP in Gadchiroli in November 2023. Over nearly three years, he played an active role in several significant operations and encounters. Given his experience in Naxal-affected areas, he has now been entrusted with the responsibility of SP in Gadchiroli. Following Neelotpal’s achievements, Ramesh faces the challenge of maintaining peace and security in the district.
