Tragic Road Accident in Solapur Claims Eight Lives

Solapur, June 14: A devastating road accident in Solapur district, Maharashtra, resulted in the loss of eight lives on Sunday. Among the deceased are four women and four children. The incident occurred near Tandulwadi village on the Mhaswad-Pandharpur road. Reports indicate that the victims were returning from visiting the Siddhanath Temple in Mhaswad when their pickup van experienced brake failure, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a well.

Local police and administration are currently on-site, engaged in rescue and relief operations.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his sorrow over the Solapur incident and announced compensation for the victims’ families.

In a post on the social media platform X, CM Fadnavis stated, “The incident in Tandulwadi, Malshiras taluka of Solapur district, is extremely tragic and heart-wrenching, where a vehicle fell into a well on a private farm, resulting in the deaths of some devotees. I pay my heartfelt tribute to them. We share in the grief of their families. Fortunately, seven lives have been saved, and they are receiving treatment. The district collector and the police superintendent have reached the scene immediately, and we are in constant contact with the local administration. The state government will provide financial assistance of 500,000 rupees to the families of the deceased.”

Meanwhile, NCP (SP) leader Rohit Pawar also took to X to express his condolences, stating, “The news of the deaths caused by a pickup truck overturning into a well on the Mhaswad-Pandharpur route (Malshiras taluka, Solapur district) is extremely sad, heartbreaking, and shocking. We extend our deepest sympathies to the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. We all share in the sorrow of the families affected by this tragedy. Along with investigating the causes of this accident, we urge the government and administration to provide immediate assistance in the rescue efforts.”
