
Rudraprayag, July 17: A tragic road accident occurred in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Late at night, a dumper lost control and plunged into a deep gorge near Tarsali, between Phata and Badasu. Upon receiving the news, teams from SDRF, NDRF, police, and the health department rushed to the scene and conducted a rescue operation throughout the night.
On Thursday night, the district emergency operation center was alerted about the dumper’s accident in the gorge. Following the report, SDRF, NDRF, police, and 108 ambulances were dispatched immediately to the location.
During the joint rescue operation, the teams searched for the two individuals who were on board the dumper. They recovered the body of Sanjay Rana, approximately 45 years old, and brought it back to the road. The second victim, identified as Mohan, was also located in the gorge, and efforts were made to retrieve his body as well.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. The police have taken possession of both bodies and initiated the necessary procedures for post-mortem examinations. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the area.
Earlier, in a separate incident in Rudraprayag district, a young man fell into a gorge about two kilometers above Gaurikund on the Kedarnath pilgrimage route. This incident was reported via Dial-112. Upon arrival, SDRF, DDRF, and other rescue teams commenced a search and rescue operation. Despite challenging conditions and darkness, the teams successfully reached the young man and brought him to safety.
The individual, identified as 25-year-old Mohit Rawat from Badasu village in the Ramapur area of Rudraprayag, sustained injuries from the fall and was admitted to the hospital. The exact circumstances leading to his fall into the gorge are still unclear.
