Ambala, July 1: A four-year-old boy named Nirbhay has tragically been declared dead after falling into a borewell in the village of Dhanoura, Ambala district, Haryana. A rescue operation lasting 21 hours was conducted to save him.
After being retrieved, the child was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. Medical Officer Dr. Rishipal stated, “As many of you know, many people were present at the rescue site since morning. After hours of relentless efforts, the child was finally brought out and immediately sent to the emergency department. We observed that his condition was very critical. Upon arrival at the hospital, we performed an ECG, which confirmed that the child had already passed away. The body has now been sent to the mortuary.”
Despite the combined efforts of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Indian Army, they were unable to save the boy. NDRF Assistant Commandant Anil Kumar explained, “As I mentioned earlier, the biggest challenge was that the child was submerged in water. Another significant challenge was the depth of the borewell. The child was severely trapped against the inner wall of the borewell, leaving almost no space between his body and the wall.”
Nirbhay’s uncle spoke to reporters, expressing gratitude for the support from the administration. “The villagers, police, army, and all rescue teams provided us with full cooperation. The villagers also helped wholeheartedly during the operation.”
The incident sent shockwaves through Dhanoura village when Nirbhay fell into the open borewell while playing. Upon receiving the news, police, administration, the Indian Army, and NDRF teams rushed to the scene to launch a rescue operation at war footing. Unfortunately, they were unable to save him.
