Tragic Loss: Four Sons Die from Addiction in Punjab Family

Chandigarh, April 6: A heartbreaking incident has emerged from the Sultanpur Lodhi area in Punjab’s Kapurthala district, where four sons from the same family have tragically lost their lives due to addiction. The family’s fifth son is also battling substance abuse and remains in critical condition. Upon learning of this tragedy, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took immediate action, directing the administration to implement necessary measures.

The Chief Minister announced that the affected young man’s treatment would be provided free of charge at government expense.

Reports indicate that the family has taken their son to a hospital in Amritsar for treatment, where he is currently receiving care. In a conversation with the media, the grieving father, Joginder Pal, shared that they are residents of Pandori Mohalla in Sultanpur Lodhi and had five sons in total.

He revealed that the addiction had already claimed the lives of four of his sons, leaving the family shattered. Their fifth son, Sonu, aged around 30, has been struggling with addiction for nearly eight years. According to Joginder Pal, Sonu was once a diligent young man working as a confectioner. Despite his skills, addiction has devastated his life, and his condition has now become extremely serious.

Expressing gratitude towards Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the family stated that they have been assured that the government will cover all medical expenses, providing them with some relief. However, this tragic event has cast a shadow of grief and concern over the entire community.

The family has appealed to the government to take strict and effective measures to eradicate addiction in Punjab. They warned that if the government and administration do not take decisive action soon, many more families could face similar devastation.
