Fatehpur, May 18: A tragic incident occurred in Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, where a gas leak from a cylinder led to a powerful explosion. Nine individuals suffered burns in this unfortunate event. The explosion took place in a two-room house located in the Pilkhini village of Kalyanpur police station area.
The incident happened around 9 PM on Sunday when Kalawati, the wife of Santosh Lodhi, was preparing dinner inside their home. Reports indicate that the gas pipe began to leak while she was cooking. Six people present in the house were affected by the blast, along with three others who rushed in to help.
Panic ensued in the area following the explosion. Upon receiving the news, police and ambulance services arrived promptly at the scene, transporting all injured individuals to Malwan Medical College. Out of the nine injured, eight were in critical condition and were referred to Kanpur for advanced treatment. A green corridor was established to expedite their transfer to Kanpur, where they are currently receiving medical care.
Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik confirmed that the explosion was caused by a gas leak, not a cylinder explosion. Both he and the District Magistrate visited the site to assess the situation. They spoke with doctors at Malwan Medical College to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care. Continuous monitoring of the victims’ conditions is underway, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Sumit Dev Pandey, the officer in charge of Kalyanpur police station, stated that all seriously injured victims have been referred to Hayat Hospital in Kanpur for specialized treatment. Other officials are present at the scene, and the investigation is in progress.
