Jaipur, April 25: A devastating fire broke out in a warehouse in the Neemrana area of Jaipur on Saturday night, resulting in the tragic deaths of four individuals, including a 7-year-old girl. The intense blaze and subsequent explosions caused widespread panic in the vicinity.
Superintendent of Police Satveer Singh confirmed, “All four bodies have been recovered, and a thorough search of the area has been completed. The forensic team has also begun its investigation at the site. We are working to determine the exact cause of the fire.”
The incident occurred at a warehouse on Bichpuri Road in Mohaladia village, where a large quantity of scrap material, including empty perfume bottles, was stored.
According to officials, several workers were trapped inside the premises when the fire broke out. The four victims, including the minor girl, were later transported to a government hospital.
Witnesses reported that the flames quickly spread to an adjacent plastic granule manufacturing unit. A powerful explosion in the factory intensified the fire, creating panic in the industrial area and nearby residential neighborhoods.
Preliminary reports indicate that workers attempted to escape but were unable to do so due to a truck that caught fire at the warehouse entrance, blocking their exit. Those trapped inside tried to jump over the boundary wall to escape but were unsuccessful due to its height, leading to multiple fatalities.
Firefighting teams from Neemrana, Ghiloth, and the Japanese area were dispatched to the scene. After nearly two hours of effort, the fire was brought under control.
Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and forensic experts were also deployed to assist in rescue and investigation efforts. Senior officials, including district administration and police officers, arrived at the site to oversee relief operations. Authorities fear that more workers may have been inside at the time of the incident, raising concerns about the potential for an increased death toll.
Local residents reported that as of this writing, two individuals remained missing. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed, and DNA samples will be collected for identification.
Officials stated that the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. However, initial investigations suggest that the warehouse and factory lacked adequate fire safety measures, which may have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.
