Teen Shot Dead by Motorcycle-Borne Assailants in Chandigarh

A teenager was shot dead by assailants in Chandigarh, highlighting ongoing gang conflicts in the area.

Chandigarh, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident unfolded in Chandigarh’s Sector 22 on Thursday evening when a teenager named Natik was shot dead by three assailants on a motorcycle. At the time of the attack, Natik was traveling in an auto-rickshaw with a friend. The gunfire also injured the auto-rickshaw driver and another passenger, both of whom have been hospitalized for treatment.

According to police reports, Natik had been embroiled in a feud with another group for the past two years. The conflict escalated into a confrontation in Sector 44 on the same day as the shooting. In a troubling twist, one of the suspects reportedly uploaded a video of the altercation on Instagram.

Initially, authorities suspected the incident was part of a gang war; however, the investigation has since shifted focus to the personal dispute between the two groups. Police have identified the suspects and are continuing their investigation into the matter.

This incident follows a previous shooting in September, where a head constable of the Chandigarh police was murdered at his residence in Sector 22. In that case, the police detained the constable’s son for questioning. The deceased officer, identified as Nitin, served in the police accounts branch. Upon learning of the shooting, a team from the Sector 17 police station arrived at the scene to begin their inquiries.

Forensic experts were called to gather evidence, and police recovered a country-made pistol from the scene. Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur reported that the victim’s wife and son were present at the home during the incident.

In a similar incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jaswant Singh narrowly escaped an attack in Ajnala, Amritsar, on September 11, where assailants on motorcycles targeted him, with one bullet narrowly missing him.
