Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expressed his condolences regarding the tragedy. He took to social media platform ‘X’ to share, “The untimely death of five children due to drowning in Kerwar village of Madhubani district is extremely sad and heartbreaking. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the grieving families. May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the families to endure this unbearable sorrow. I have instructed the Disaster Management Department to provide a grant of 4 lakh rupees to the dependents of the deceased.”

The deceased children were all from the same family. As news of the five children’s deaths spread, the entire Kerwar village was engulfed in grief. The parents and relatives of the deceased were inconsolable. Local police and administrative officials arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

According to police, the incident took place in Kerwar village, where several children went to bathe in water collected in a large pit dug by a JCB machine in a nearby field.
