Tragic Collision in Nalanda Claims Three Lives as Pilgrims Return from Fair

Patna, June 14: A tragic accident occurred in the Chhabilapur area of Nalanda district, Bihar, on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The incident involved a truck colliding head-on with an auto-rickshaw carrying pilgrims returning from the Malmas Mela in Rajgir. Eight others sustained injuries and have been transported to a local hospital for treatment.

According to police reports, the pilgrims were traveling back to their village after bathing at the fair. As the auto approached the K.K. Polytechnic College in Chhabilapur, a truck loaded with sand struck it violently from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the auto was completely destroyed. The scene was chaotic, with cries for help ringing out immediately after the collision.

Emergency responders, assisted by local residents, quickly arrived at the scene to begin rescue operations. Anoj Kumar Pathak, the officer in charge of Chhabilapur police station, confirmed that eight individuals were injured, with two in critical condition. They were referred to Pawapuri Hospital after receiving initial treatment. The deceased have been identified as Guddu Kumar (25) from Kochhar village, Rani Devi (60) from Gannu Begha village in Gaya district, and Shivani Kumari (6).

Police have taken possession of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examinations. Following the accident, angry locals blocked the road in protest, but police managed to disperse the crowd after discussions. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
