
Markapur, March 26: A devastating road accident occurred in Markapur district, Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday morning, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least eight individuals. The incident happened when a private travel bus, en route from Hyderabad to Pamur, collided with a tipper truck near Rayavaram.
Initial reports indicate that the collision sparked a fierce fire, engulfing the bus within minutes. The vehicle was completely consumed by flames, trapping passengers inside. Rescue teams and local officials quickly arrived at the scene to initiate relief efforts. Several injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals, while efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing.
District Superintendent of Police Nagaraju confirmed that eight people lost their lives in this fiery accident. He stated that a thorough investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the crash. Authorities are awaiting further updates as the situation develops. According to police reports, many injured individuals are in critical condition, and the death toll may rise. It is reported that around 40 passengers were on the bus, with approximately 20 sustaining serious injuries.
Upon receiving news of the incident, police and firefighters rushed to the site to extinguish the flames, but the vehicle had already been reduced to ashes. Most of the deceased were residents of the Kanigiri and Pamur areas. Local residents and police worked together to transport the injured to hospitals via ambulances. The police have registered a case and commenced an investigation.
On March 21, a similar incident occurred in Vizianagaram district, where a bus caught fire while in motion. A bus traveling from Bhubaneswar in Odisha to Malkajgiri experienced a tire blowout near Tarapuram in the Ramabhadrapuram mandal, which led to a sudden fire. The driver acted swiftly, stopping the bus and safely evacuating passengers, thus preventing a major disaster.
