New Delhi, March 26: Northern Railway has announced a temporary suspension of passenger reservation system (PRS) services in New Delhi due to scheduled maintenance work on Thursday night and early Friday morning. This will affect several passenger-related services.
Travelers are advised that those planning to book or cancel tickets, or check their PNR status between the night of March 26 and 27, may face inconvenience as both online and counter-based services will be unavailable for several hours.
Railway officials urge passengers to complete all necessary travel-related activities in advance to avoid last-minute issues.
According to officials, PRS services in the Delhi area will be temporarily closed for maintenance, during which key services such as ticket booking, cancellations, and inquiries will not be available.
The suspension will begin at 11:45 PM on Thursday and last until 4:45 AM on Friday, March 27, for approximately five hours. During this time, passengers will not be able to access several essential rail services.
Officials noted that various facilities associated with the Delhi reservation system will be unavailable during this period, including booking services through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation’s website and ticket counters at railway stations.
Additionally, passengers will be unable to check the PNR status of their tickets or cancel confirmed and waitlisted bookings during the maintenance period.
Moreover, train charting services will also be suspended, affecting chart preparation and related services like electronic deposit receipts (EDR). Instant booking and other last-minute reservation options will also be unavailable.
The railway stated that this temporary suspension is part of efforts to enhance system capacity and improve overall speed and efficiency. The maintenance and technical upgrades aim to ensure faster and more reliable services for passengers in the future.
Passengers are advised to complete all necessary travel arrangements, especially ticket bookings and cancellations, before 11:45 PM on Thursday to avoid any inconvenience during the suspension period.
