Tragic AN-32 Crash Claims Lives of Three IAF Personnel

Guwahati, June 14: The Indian Air Force’s C-130J aircraft took off on Sunday, carrying the remains of three personnel who tragically lost their lives in an AN-32 transport aircraft accident at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam.

According to officials, the AN-32 transport aircraft crashed shortly after landing at the Jorhat airbase on Saturday. A fire broke out on the aircraft, prompting emergency response teams to arrive at the scene immediately.

Squadron Leader Prashant Singh’s remains were sent to his hometown, Dehradun in Uttarakhand, while Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar’s body is being transported to his home in Gaya district, Bihar.

The remains of Airman Danish Alam will be taken to his residence in Bhojpur district, Bihar. A wave of grief swept through Kaim Nagar village in Bhojpur upon hearing the news of the 22-year-old Airman Danish Alam’s death in the IAF aircraft accident.

Danish Alam was the only son of Mohammad Farooq Alam and Akhtari Begum. His father works for a private company in Gaya, while his mother is a homemaker. He is survived by two elder sisters, Shagufta Parveen and Gazala Parveen.

The accident occurred around 10 AM and was described by the Air Force as a routine sortie. The IAF confirmed the incident and stated that management of the crash site and preliminary investigations are underway.

In an official statement released a few hours after the accident, the IAF expressed deep sorrow over the loss of five personnel in the AN-32 crash in Assam. “Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Airman Khemaram Kumawat, and Airman Danish Alam made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty,” the statement read.

The IAF also extended condolences to the families of the deceased. “The IAF expresses its heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and stands firmly with them during this difficult time.”
