Patna, August 4: A tragic road accident late Monday night in Bhojpur district, Bihar, resulted in the deaths of two laborers and left five others seriously injured. Officials reported the incident on Tuesday, stating that an auto-rickshaw returning from a sand ghat collided with the wall of the railway station, leading to this unfortunate event.
According to police, all the laborers were returning home to Koilwar after working at the Ghana sand ghat in the Rani Talab police station area. The auto-rickshaw was crossing the Abdul Bari Iron Bridge when the driver lost control shortly after passing the bridge, crashing into the wall of the Koilwar railway station.
The impact was so severe that several laborers became trapped inside the vehicle. Among the critically injured was 50-year-old Mohammad Sagir Ahmed, a resident of Ward 6 in Koilwar. He was rushed to the Koilwar Community Health Center, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Another laborer, 49-year-old Mohammad Aleem from Ward 5, also sustained serious injuries. He was being transported for medical care but tragically passed away en route in Bihta.
Other injured individuals include Krishna Rai, Anil Rai, Santosh Rai, and Sujit Rai, all residents of various wards in Koilwar.
The accident caused chaos in the area. Hearing the cries for help from the damaged vehicle, local residents quickly arrived at the scene to assist in rescuing the trapped laborers.
Emergency services were alerted, and an ambulance from the health department arrived promptly. With the help of locals, the injured were transported to the Koilwar Community Health Center.
Dr. Ananddeep and other medical staff provided initial treatment. Given their serious conditions, all were referred to Patna for advanced care.
As news of the accident spread, relatives of the deceased and injured rushed to the hospital. The deaths of Sagir Ahmed and Aleem have plunged their families into mourning, casting a pall of sorrow over the entire Koilwar area.
