
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a significant meeting on Friday with the CEOs and experts of India’s leading IT companies to discuss the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in the country.
Following the discussion, C Vijayakumar, CEO and MD of HCL Technologies, described the interaction as highly inspiring. He noted that the Prime Minister is well-informed about AI and emphasised the focus on developing AI solutions that are recognised globally for their excellence.
Venugopal Lambu, CEO and MD of Mindtree, called it one of the most motivating conversations he has had with world leaders. The discussion centred on creating a global impact and inspiring the world, highlighting how technology, particularly AI, will play a crucial role in economic growth and healthcare accessibility in the near future.
K Krithivasan, CEO of Tata Consultancy Services, stated that the meeting addressed the importance of self-reliance and explored ways to leverage AI while ensuring the security of citizens’ data.
Srinivas Pallia, CEO of Wipro, shared that the conversation covered empowering India with skills, developing India-centred applications, building a sovereign infrastructure, and extending support to the world. He also mentioned that PM Modi provided excellent examples of how India can become self-reliant through initiatives like UPAI and emerge as a major AI exporter.
Sridhar Vembu, CEO of Zoho, said the Prime Minister motivated them to focus on solving country-specific challenges. The discussion emphasised how AI can be made beneficial and accessible to every Indian.
Jayakumar Jankaraj, CEO of AdaniConneX, highlighted that PM Modi used simple examples to explain how AI should be developed not just as infrastructure but as a living entity reflecting Indian ethos.
