
Dispur, March 22: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections. This announcement was made under the guidance of party president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The new list features seven candidates from Assam. According to the announcement, the candidates include Shermaan Ali Ahmed from the Mandia (Barpeta) seat, Rozi Ahmed (Punu Das) from the Hajo-Sualkuchi (SC) seat, Abhijit Majumdar from Guwahati Central, Inus Kumar Kandapan from Chabua-Lahowal (Dibrugarh), Paresh Bora from Mariyani (Jorhat), Parimal Ranjan Roy from Karimganj North, and Aziz Ahmed Khan (Ranu Khan) from Karimganj South.
Additionally, the party has made a significant change to its first list. The candidate for the Chamaria Assembly seat (AC number 27), listed as number 6 in the first list, has had their candidacy withdrawn.
TMC extended its best wishes to all candidates, urging them to serve the public and earn the trust of the people. Previously, on Saturday, TMC had announced its first list, which included 17 candidates for the electoral battle.
The Assam Assembly consists of a total of 126 seats and operates as a unicameral legislature. According to the Election Commission’s proposal, nine seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 19 for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Moreover, Assam holds significant representation in Parliament, with 14 Lok Sabha seats and 7 Rajya Sabha seats. Voting for all 126 Assembly seats will take place in a single phase on April 9, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
