The Tennessee Titans have cut defensive lineman Jordan Elliott following an incident where he reportedly brought a gun to the team’s training facility. This decision was communicated on Wednesday, described by the team as a response to a serious breach of conduct.

According to the Titans, Elliott retrieved the firearm from his car after an altercation during practice. Although Nashville police were not called to the scene, the NFL confirmed that they are reviewing the situation. A spokesperson stated, “The club promptly notified the league of the matter which is under review.”

Coach Robert Saleh expressed sympathy for Elliott, describing him as “a good man” who made a significant error in judgment. Saleh added, “It’s unfortunate the way it went down.” He hopes Elliott can find another opportunity in the league and would support his character to other teams. Saleh emphasized the importance of adhering to league rules regarding firearms, stating, “Unfortunately rules are rules.”

The NFL’s policy strictly prohibits personnel from bringing firearms to team facilities, stadiums, or on team transport. An anonymous source from a different NFL team labeled Elliott’s actions as an “egregious conduct violation,” noting the firearm rules are clearly posted at facilities. The source indicated that Elliott could face suspension if he signs with another team.

Prior to this incident, Elliott had appeared in all five games this season but was inactive for the latest game due to personal reasons not related to injury. He joined the Titans this offseason after stints with the San Francisco 49ers and the Cleveland Browns.

Teammate Cam Ward expressed solidarity, saying, “At the end of the day, we’re all humans. We’re all with him. I mean he’s a great person.”
