
Agartala, March 25: The Tipra Motha Party has announced its list of 28 candidates for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections in 2026.
The candidates include Bhabha Ranjan Riyang from Damchera-Jampui (ST), Swapna Kumar Chakma from Machhmara, Umashankar Riyang from Dasda-Kanchanpur, Ratish Tripura from Karmachharra (ST), and Hangsakumar Tripura from Chawmanu (ST). Other notable candidates are Hollywood Chakma from Manu-Chailengta, Dhirendra Debbarma from Demchara-Kachuchharra (ST), and Khotroje Reang from Ganganagar Gandachara (ST).
Additionally, Prasmit Debbarma from Halahali-Asharam Bari (ST), Rajeshwar Debbarma from Kulai-Champabari (ST), Utpal Debbarma from Maharani-Teiliamura (ST), and James Debbarma from Ramchandra Ghat (ST) are also on the list. Other candidates include Rahindra Debbarma from Simna-Tamkari (ST), Runil Debbarma from Bodhjungnagar-Bakkinagar (ST), and Jagdish Debbarma from Jirania (ST).
Jiten Debbarma from Mandai Nagar-Pulinpur (ST), Suraj Debbarma from Takarjala-Jampuijala (ST), and Buddha Kumar Debbarma from Amtali-Golaghati (ST) are among the candidates as well. Full Chand Jamatiya from Killa-Bagima (ST) and C.K. Jamatiya from Maharani-Chelaganga (ST) will also contest.
The party’s founder, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, and president, Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl, jointly announced the candidates’ names on Tuesday night. TTAADC Chairman Jagdish Debbarma will contest again from the Jirania seat, while Executive Member Purn Chandra Jamatiya will run from Killa-Bagima.
Debbarma clarified that there will be no alliance with the BJP for the elections scheduled for April 12. He emphasized that without substantial progress on the trilateral agreement made on March 2, 2024, no electoral understanding is possible. He stated that mere assurances are not enough; implementation on the ground is essential.
Voting for the 30-member TTAADC will take place on April 12, with the counting of votes scheduled for April 17. The council comprises 28 elected and two nominated members.
