New Delhi, March 25: Prime Minister Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday regarding India’s preparedness to tackle challenges arising from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. This followed his earlier address to the Lok Sabha on the same issue.
In an interview with a news agency, Kausar Jahan, Chairperson of the Delhi Haj Committee, expressed confidence in the Prime Minister’s assurance that India is fully equipped to handle the situation. She reminded that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire nation united to face a global crisis. She emphasized the need for similar unity today. The Prime Minister also made it clear that India stands firm for dialogue and humanity.
Jahan noted that while the government is working to bring its citizens back from the Middle East conflict, it is also making robust arrangements.
Regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill, Kausar Jahan stated that this is a significant decision empowering half of the country’s population under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. She believes it will have a positive impact, increasing women’s participation in politics and accelerating development. She welcomed this initiative, noting that women across the country are expressing gratitude to PM Modi for this step.
PM Modi highlighted in the Rajya Sabha that the Strait of Hormuz is one of the major global trade routes, particularly for the transportation of crude oil, gas, and fertilizers. Since the onset of the war, maritime traffic in the Strait has become highly challenging. However, despite adverse conditions, the government has been striving to create pathways through dialogue and diplomacy.
