
New Delhi, May 9: The Delhi Metro Police have successfully resolved a theft case at the Karol Bagh Metro Station. A police team arrested three women accused of stealing a passenger’s wallet and valuable items.
According to police officials, the case was registered on May 5, 2026, following a complaint from P. Naga Lakshmi, a resident of Uttam Nagar, at the Raja Garden Metro Police Station.
The complainant alleged that while standing in line at the ticket counter at Karol Bagh Metro Station, approximately ₹6,000 in cash, a silver anklet, a rudraksha, and her wallet containing an Aadhaar card were stolen from her bag.
After receiving the complaint, the police formed a special investigation team that conducted a thorough examination of CCTV footage from the metro station and surrounding areas. Through technical surveillance and careful analysis, investigators identified three suspects involved in the theft.
Based on these leads, the police team promptly arrested the three accused women at Shadipur Metro Station.
The suspects have been identified as Sonia (27), Sharda Rajuji Saikwad (32), and Naina (24).
During continuous questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime. Based on their disclosures, the police recovered ₹4,500 in cash and a silver anklet from the complainant.
Authorities reported that the three women have been charged under Section 35(3) of the Indian Citizen Security Code (BNSS), as well as Sections 317(2) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) B. Bharat Reddy stated that this case highlights the effectiveness of prompt police action, technical surveillance, and coordinated ground operations in solving crimes in crowded public places.
He further emphasized that the timely arrest of the suspects and the recovery of stolen property demonstrate the vigilance and operational efficiency of the Delhi Metro Police in ensuring passenger safety and maintaining law and order within the metro network. The investigation is ongoing.
