
Nagercoil, July 15: Three jail personnel at Kanyakumari District Jail in Tamil Nadu have been suspended with immediate effect due to serious allegations against them. This decision aims to ensure public interest and a fair investigation. Officials have confirmed that the suspension will remain in effect until the investigation is complete.
According to separate orders issued by G.B. Senthamaraikannan, the Superintendent of Palayamkottai Central Jail, the suspended staff members include Grade-1 Warden N. Jehan, Grade-2 Warden J. Shivakumar, and Chief Head Warden N. Suresh, also known as Thirumalaianambi.
The orders state that an investigation into the serious allegations against the three officials is proposed. To ensure a fair and independent inquiry, their immediate suspension was deemed necessary. This action has been taken under Rule 17(e) of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules.
The order also mentions that due to the public interest nature of the case, the specifics of the allegations and the detailed reasons for the suspension cannot be disclosed publicly. The administration has indicated that limited information will be shared to maintain the integrity of the investigation.
During the suspension period, the three employees will receive a subsistence allowance as per Fundamental Rule 53(1) and will be required to remain at their headquarters in Nagercoil. They are not permitted to leave the headquarters without prior approval from the competent authority.
The jail administration clarified that the suspension took effect on July 14 and will continue until further notice. After the investigation concludes, further administrative and departmental actions will be taken based on the facts and evidence available.
While the administration has not disclosed the nature of the allegations, officials assert that such actions are necessary to ensure a fair investigation in serious cases. It will only be after the investigation is complete that the severity of the allegations and the roles of the involved personnel will be clarified.
