Three Minors Rescued from Barharwa Railway Station Under Operation Little Angels

Maldah, March 7: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has successfully rescued three minors from Barharwa Railway Station as part of Operation ‘Little Angels’. This initiative aims to enhance safety and monitoring at railway stations.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Malda Divisional Railway Manager Manish Kumar Gupta and the oversight of Ashim Kumar Kullu, Divisional Security Commissioner of RPF Malda.

During a routine inspection, RPF personnel noticed three boys, aged approximately 16 to 17 years, wandering aimlessly on the platform. Recognizing the potential risk, the RPF officers promptly took them into custody for questioning and ensured their safety.

The three minors were later handed over to authorized representatives of Child Protection Munch, Barharwa, for further care, counseling, and legal proceedings.

The RPF stated that this action reflects their vigilance and commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of minors in railway premises.

Earlier, on February 2, RPF officers successfully rescued two minors at Barharwa Railway Station. During a regular patrol around 8:20 AM, they found a three-month-old boy and an eight-year-old girl alone in the reserved coach of train number 15734 (Farakka Express Down).

The RPF team immediately took the children into their protection, following all necessary procedures to ensure their care before handing them over to Child Protection Munch, Barharwa (Sahibganj) for further action. This intervention helped safeguard the children from any potential threats.

Additionally, RPF Inspector Sanjeev Kumar reported that in 2024, ten human traffickers were arrested, leading to the rescue of 28 children. A total of 73 children were rescued that year, along with the apprehension of seven traffickers. So far this year, over 20 children have already been rescued.
