India Positioned to Become Global Hub for Renewable Energy, Says Union Minister Prahlad Joshi

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi highlights Indias rapid advancements in renewable energy at the BRE Summit 2026.

New Delhi, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Union Minister Prahlad Joshi emphasized India’s significant progress in the renewable energy sector during the Renewable Energy (BRE) Summit and Expo 2026 held in New Delhi. He noted that the expansion of renewable and green energy in the country is accelerating, driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies and leadership. This growth has sparked increased interest among businesses and manufacturing activities.

Joshi outlined several key factors contributing to the rise of renewable energy. First, it serves as a clean energy source. Second, it is relatively affordable. The policies and incentives introduced by the Prime Minister have encouraged more people to engage with this sector. As public interest grows, so too does the expansion of business and manufacturing.

At the summit, Joshi highlighted the overwhelming participation, stating that the scale of the exhibition related to renewable and solar energy was previously unimaginable. He mentioned that multiple large halls were being utilized for the event, yet demand from exhibitors and participants was so high that accommodating everyone was a challenge.

The minister pointed out that the enthusiasm and demand for space at the expo indicate a consistent rise in interest in the renewable energy sector in India. He regarded this as evidence of the sector’s growth and business expansion, noting that India has surpassed an established capacity of 310 gigawatts in renewable energy. The country aims to achieve an additional 190 gigawatts, and Joshi expressed confidence that this target will be met.

He also referenced new goals set forth by Prime Minister Modi, stating that as the country approaches its initial targets, the Prime Minister has encouraged even greater achievements. Joshi attributed the ongoing transformation in the sector to Modi’s vision, leadership, and economic support.

The minister concluded by affirming that the increasing demand for clean energy, coupled with policy backing and business growth, positions India strongly in the renewable energy landscape. He remains optimistic that the country will emerge as a global hub for renewable energy in the near future.
