Three Dead, Two Injured in Road Accident in Northern Afghanistan

In Baghlan province of northern Afghanistan, a severe road accident claimed the lives of three passengers and left two others injured. The crash occurred due to a collision between two speeding vehicles in the Kala-e-Baday area of the Dushi district.

Among the deceased were a woman and a child, according to police reports. This incident highlights the growing concern over frequent road accidents in Afghanistan, often attributed to poor road conditions, negligent driving, and lack of adherence to safety regulations.

Recently, several serious accidents have occurred across the region. Last Thursday, a vehicle plunged into a ravine on a mountainous route in Badakhshan province, resulting in two deaths and one injury.

On December 20, 2025, a bus overturned in the Salang area of Baghlan, killing at least five people and injuring 44. Authorities stated that the accident was caused by overspeeding and reckless driving. The injured received treatment at Khanjan District Health Centre.

Earlier, on December 15, 2025, two separate road accidents within 24 hours caused three deaths and 16 injuries. One of these occurred on the Kabul-Kandahar highway, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to two women.

In Jawzjan province, another accident led to one death and left 14 people injured. Officials have pointed out that speeding, careless driving, congested and poorly maintained roads remain the primary causes behind these incidents.
