Dehradun, June 2: The revered Kuteti Devi Temple, located in the holy land of Uttarakhand, serves as a significant center of devotion for locals and visitors alike. It is believed that every wish made at this temple is fulfilled, providing mental peace and spiritual energy to all who come here.
Recently, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared a special video on his social media platform, X, highlighting the temple’s grandeur and spiritual significance.
He wrote, “Nestled amidst the picturesque valleys and natural beauty of Uttarkashi, the Kuteti Devi Temple is a sacred center of faith and spiritual energy. Dedicated to Goddess Adi Shakti, this Siddhpeeth holds a special place among devotees due to its divine atmosphere and religious importance. Make sure to visit this holy temple during your trip to Uttarkashi.”
The Kuteti Devi Temple is not just a vital religious site; it is also a Siddhpeeth where the tranquil environment and divine energy offer spiritual experiences to devotees. According to ancient beliefs, the history of Kuteti Devi is linked to the era of Adi Guru Shankaracharya and the unwavering devotion of the Kota royal family from Rajasthan.
Tradition holds that newlywed couples visit the temple to pray for children. A legendary tale associated with the temple narrates how the goddess arrived from Rajasthan at the request of one of her devotees and settled on a hill near the Indravati River.
According to the legend, a Maharaja from Kota lost a bag filled with wealth during his pilgrimage to Gangotri. He prayed at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi, promising to marry his daughter to a local man if his bag was found. Soon after, the bag was recovered, and he fulfilled his vow by marrying his daughter to a local youth.
However, the princess was saddened by the thought that her family deity, Kuteti Devi, was far away. It is said that the goddess appeared to her in a dream, indicating she would meet her in the fields. The next day, the princess discovered three stones in the field near the Indravati River, as directed by the goddess. Subsequently, the villagers constructed the Kuteti Devi Temple at that location, which has since become a major center of faith for devotees.
