This year, however, audiences were left disappointed as no films were released during the Holi celebrations. This is not always the case, as many films have previously hit theaters during this festive period, with some achieving great success while others flopped.
From the patriotic film ‘Kesari’ to the romantic drama ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania,’ these movies have showcased the magic of Holi at the box office in various ways.
The romantic-comedy ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar,’ directed by Luv Ranjan and released in 2023, starred Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. It received positive feedback from both audiences and critics. Its release on Holi significantly boosted its performance, making it a hit.
On the other hand, ‘Bachchan Pandey,’ an action-comedy featuring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, and Jacqueline Fernandez, failed to impress at the box office despite extensive promotion. Released in 2022, it was not well-received by audiences.
‘Saina,’ a sports biopic starring Parineeti Chopra, was released during Holi in 2021 but did not make a significant impact at the box office, resulting in a complete flop.
‘Irrfan Khan’s ‘Angrezi Medium,’ which came out in 2020, is one of his remarkable films. It was not a sequel to ‘Hindi Medium’ but a standalone story. Unfortunately, it faced challenges due to the lockdown shortly after its release, limiting its earnings, although Irrfan’s performance was widely praised.
