Guwahati, August 20: Indian wrestler and WWE superstar The Great Khali visited Dorika Kewarta village in Assam on Thursday to assist those affected by the floods. He distributed relief materials and expressed his sorrow over the situation.
In a conversation with reporters, Khali called on prominent Bollywood actors and actresses to visit Assam. He stated, “I am deeply saddened by the floods in Assam, which have caused immense suffering. I extend my gratitude to the NGOs supporting the people here. I also want to thank the media, as it plays a crucial role in bringing awareness to disasters across the country.”
Khali continued, “I have been planning to come here for a long time, and as soon as I got the chance, I arrived. I urge all cricketers and Bollywood celebrities to come here. Everyone lives for themselves, but the people of India, who have made us stars, are facing a crisis. Please come here, even if it’s just for a day or an hour. Step outside your comfort zone and witness the dire situation of the people.”
Khali mentioned that he will stay in Assam for two days. A member of the True Hope Foundation revealed that when they contacted Khali to request his presence, he agreed immediately. He also noted that Khali declined any form of commercial support, contributing an additional ₹500,000 to aid flood victims.
However, Khali refrained from commenting on the government’s response. He expressed hope that the government would provide full support to those affected by the floods. According to Khali, he will do his best to assist people through NGOs.
