Bangkok/Phnom Penh, 17 August (Kiran News). Representatives of the armies of Thailand and Cambodia held a special meeting of the Thailand-Cambodia Regional Border Committee (RBC) in Thailand’s Trat province on Saturday.

According to the Thai Navy, the meeting was attended by the commanders of Chanthaburi and Trat Border Defense Command from the Thai side and the commander of Cambodia’s Military Region-3. Both sides emphasised resolving mutual issues peacefully and ensuring the well-being and peace of people in the border areas. After the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed.
Cambodian Defence Ministry’s Under-Secretary of State and spokesperson, Lieutenant General Mali Socheata, said that border-related issues were discussed in this special meeting, and it was decided that the armed forces of both countries would maintain regular contact.
She stated that the aim of the meeting was to avoid conflicts and resolve issues in a peaceful manner. Cambodia hopes this meeting will promote the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement, ensuring peace, stability, and normalcy in the border regions.
